Awesome school and lots of fun

Wessex Success!

The Best Athletics Performance in Over a Decade

The Junior Wessex Athletics Championships were held at Hordle Walhampton School on the 12th of June and the Senior Wessex was the following Wednesday at Kings Park in Bournemouth. There were 28 schools competing for the honours in each event. In my eight years I have not had a more successful team of athletes, with so many medals and the largest ever group achieving national qualifying time or distance. FSMs name was read out so many times in the presentation ceremony that even the announcer commented on our success. The most notable achievements went to the gold medal winners (get ready this is a long list!) P.Butt (throw), L.OConnor (Discus), J.Galton (Javelin), H.Lowth (Triple Jump), J.Page (200m), R.Tabor (100m), TC Mackean (800m), TC Mackean, C. Niekirk (triple jump) O.Pittman, H.Lowth, R.Tabor (relay). There were just as many athletes who achieved silver or bronze medals and it was fantastic to see medals for so many of our ten relay teams, at U9, U11, U12, U13 and U14 level. Future hopefuls have to be the U10 girls relay, who were unfortunately disqualified after winning their race convincingly. It was also brilliant to have so many of the junior athletes in the top ten schools in their events. See some pictures!

FSM athletes will be competing in over a dozen events at the National Championships in Birmingham, please join me in wishing them the very best of luck.
